§ 12.5-98. Hawkers and peddlers, precious metals dealers and nonferrous metals.

  • Any person desiring to peddle goods anywhere in Horry County shall not be required to obtain a business license under this article, but such person must acquire a hawkers and peddlers license from the Horry County Clerk of Court pursuant to Article III of Chapter 12.5 of this Code and S.C. Code § 40-41-10. Licensees must also be in compliance with zoning and building regulations and other provisions of this Code.

    A precious metals dealer must obtain a permit from local law enforcement to engage in the business of purchasing precious metals pursuant to S.C. Code § 40-54-20 before he can obtain a business license.

    A seller of transporter of nonferrous metals (e.g.: copper and aluminum other than aluminum cans) to a secondary recycler must hold a valid nonferrous metals permit issued by the sheriff in his county of residence pursuant to S.C. Code § 16-17-680 before he can obtain a business license.
