§ 8-1. Purpose and intent.

This article applies to the establishment, operation and maintenance in the unincorporated area of Horry County of facilities for fire prevention services. It is adopted pursuant to the county council's general police power to provide for the public health, safety and general welfare of the residents of Horry County and specifically pursuant to Article VIII, section 17 of the South Carolina Constitution and sections 4-9-30(5), 4-9-30(14) and 4-21-10 et seq. of the South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976.
